This month's Holtville Dixie Youth League meeting will be held on July 18th, at 3PM in the Alice Allen Sports Complex Press Box.  We will be voting on a couple of by-law amendments, so we ask that all concerned adults be present.  As a reminder, the annual elections will be held August 15.

Proposed by-law changes include:

1. Creating a position of Associate Commisioner for Softball

2. Amending drafting rules

WELCOME 12 & UNDER SOUTH CENTRAL AREA TEAMS!

We have had various emails and calls regarding park rules and area lodging.  I will try to answer as many FAQs as possible.  If I leave something out, please contact us!

1) No outside coolers or food in the park.  We ask that you do not grill.  Our concession stand prices are reasonable; please support us.  Large Gatorades are $2. Large Slushies, large sodas, and bottled water are $1.50.  Small slushies and small sodas are $1.  We have hotdogs, hamburgers, nachos, fries, BBQ sandwiches, chicken fingers, cheese sticks, chips, pickles, sunflower seeds, and a variety of candy.  We won't let you go hungry!

2) No alcohol or tobacco products in the park.  There are designated smoking areas at the entrances near the parking area.  Please do not smoke in or around the fields, bathrooms, or concession area.  We ask that no alcohol be brought onto the premises-- this includes the parking area.

3) Tents are welcome and recommended.  We do not have a lot of shade.  We have a few covered picnic areas.  You are welcome to set up your tents on either side of the ball fields and along the back row.  Please do not place a tent behind the backstop as this will block the view of the scoreboard keeper.  You may place tents over bleachers.  Please ensure that this does not obstruct the view for others.

4) All coaches, teams, and fans are asked to enter the park through one entrance; it will be posted.  The first entrance (next to tree line) will be marked off and reserved for handicap parking, umpires, workers and other tournament officials.

5) Admission is $5 for children over 12 and adults.  Coaches and players are free, of course.  Please make sure you have your coaches' passes in hand.  Fans will be given a wristband that will allow you to exit the park and re-enter as often as needed without being charged again.

6) Our concession stand accepts credit cards, but there is an ATM within 2 miles at the gas station and at First Community Bank on Hwy 111.

7) We are off the beaten path, so the closest lodging is about 11 miles away.  At Exit 179 off I-65 in Prattville, there are 3 hotels: Super 8, Arbor Suites, and Comfort Inn beginning at $62/night. There is a Wendy's, Dairy Queen, Cracker Barrel, Mexican Restaurant and several gas stations at this exit also.  There is a Walmart on the way to the ball park off Hwy 14.

Good luck to all of you!  Please be good sports and have a good time.  Help us keep our park clean!

Holtville Sponsoring a Tournament PDF Print E-mail
Written by Scott Staton

Hello Parents,
Holtville Dixie Youth League is sponsoring a tournament in Holtville this coming weekend (10-12 June).  It was our second most profitable fund raiser last year.  We need  your help to make this year a success.  We still need many positions filled ranging from scoreboard operators, gate admissions, and
concession stand workers. We will be glad to give On-The-Job training!  The more people that chip in will lessen the workload for all.  Any time you can spare will be appreciated and a concession stand meal will be provided.
The tournament is Thursday and Friday evenings and all day Saturday.  Many of the people that would normally volunteer will be attending tournaments in other locations, so we really need your help!  This is a great opportunity to get behind the scenes and help raise money for our children's ball park.
If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ).

Thanks in advance for your help!

Bricks are Back! PDF Print E-mail
Written by Scott Staton

We are considering adding more engraved bricks to the base of the flag pole.  This is not really designed to be a fund raiser, just a nice way of leaving your mark on the ball field.  The cost will be $20, but we must get at least 25 orders for the price.  If you are interested, please e-mail your contact information, and how many bricks you would like. I'll get back to you with order forms and more information when we are ready to place an order.

The bricks will be 4x6 with up to 4 engraved lines of no more than 21 characters (18 recommended) per line.

Thanks!

Scott
